BEST Raw Chocolate Frosting Recipe in the VitaMix (1)One of my major pet peeves is licking your fingers… but I may have to make an exception for this recipe! It’s a Raw Chocolate Frosting Recipe that is Sugar Free, Dairy Free, Gluten Free & sooooo creamy it might convince you never to use the store-bought stuff again! Plus it only uses 5 easy & natural ingredients.

The best part is that you can use this same recipe to make a Raw Chocolate Fondue and/or a Raw Chocolate Pudding! Or you can just make out with the spatula like I do! =)

Description

This easy & delicious Raw Chocolate Frosting Recipe can be made quickly in your Vitamix Blender & enjoyed on your favorite desserts! Perfect for Raw Chocolate Pudding or Fondue!

Ingredients

Scale

Soak Ingredients:

  • 3/4 Cup Cashews (this gives it the creamy, dreamy taste!)
  • 5 Dates (pits removed)
  • Just Enough Water to Cover the Soaked Ingredients in a Bowl

Other Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cup Milk Alternative (I used Almond or Coconut Milk)
  • 1 Teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 Cup Raw Cacao Powder OR Unsweetened Cocoa Powder OR Unsweetened Carob Powder

Instructions

  1. Place the Cashews & Dates into a small bowl and place just enough water to cover them. Let soak for approx. 1/2 – 1 hour.
  2. Once the Nuts & Dates are done soaking, drain the water and scoop them into the Vitamix
  3. Add the Milk & Vanilla, then give the ingredients a quick blend blend on Variable Speed 10 until smooth.
  4. Stir in the Unsweetened Cocoa Powder and blend again on High until all ingredients are smooth. You may need to stop & scrape the sides of the Vitamix once or twice until everything is evenly blended.
  5. Refrigerate for approx. 1 hour before using as a frosting or pudding. Use immediately if you want a warm Chocolate Fondue.
  6. Refrigerate until ready to serve & store any left overs in Fridge.
  7. For an extra Stiff Frosting, use less liquid.

Notes

If you’re allergic to cashews, trysubstituting them for Sunflower Seeds or SunButter!

Thank you sooooo much for posting this recipe! I’ve been missing frosting. In addition to all the artificial ingredients the store-bought frostings contain, they all also have trans fats! All of them! (Or at least, any that I’ve longingly looked at.) :) It will be so nice to finally be able to indulge a little again. I might find myself making out with the spatula right along with you, Erika!

How in God’s name do you get all the goodie out of the Vitamix? Seriously?

LOL! I’m assuming you mean how do I get the frosting out? I use a thin spatula… and let the kids get the last little bit on the bottom with a long spoon! It’s a win-win for everyone! God Bless! ~Erika

What would be a good substitute for cashews?

      Aloha Erin!

Can you eat tree nuts? If so, you could try this recipe with almonds or walnuts – but you would need to soak the almonds a bit longer. Unfortunately, the mixture might not be so creamy… but still delicious! =)

      God Bless!

Hi Erika, I have my Vitamix, so now it’s my turn to make a fool of myself as well. I am about to go and get my frosting prepared right now, so now I will have a friendly frosting for my personal chocolate cake…it looks so mouth watering. Thanks Erika for this beautiful frosting, and all of your lovely recipes.

This is phenomenal. My daughter is hypoglycemic like me and a total choco-holic (also like me). I just made some vegan cupcakes and this frosting and had to have my three year old take the spatula of frosting out of my hand! We are omnivores, but just got a Vitamix to aid our mission to eat more plant foods. Yea Vitamix! Yea Erika! Thank you…

Wow – just made that fantastic chocolate cake with your frosting recipe – took some to my buddy next door – waiting for her comment! Love the flour mix. Do you have a recipe for baking powder biscuits (or do I use a regular recipe using your flour mix and a non-dairy milk). So looking forward to trying more of your recipes. Thanks! ??

Hi Erika, great recipe! How long does it usually keep for? I used shelf stable milk because that’s all I’m able to find where I live. I made a batch on Sunday afternoon that isn’t meant to be used until about Tuesday. Think it’ll be OK in the fridge? Thanks again!

I don’t have a Vitamix I used a food processor the icing is very very good , the only thing I added was a little bit of maple syrup . I don’t like super sweet but I thought it needed more sweetness…just a little bit . So if you make it and you like sweet cut back on the milk and add a few table spoons of maple syrup the real thing . Than add more milk to see the consistency. So good and healthy compare to the 3/4 cup of butter icing .
