Looking to reduce sugar but still have a tasty treat like a Krispy Kreme donut? Whether you call them keto donuts or keto doughnuts, these glazed donuts are your new go-to sugar-free desserts!

Although I'm not keto, I love sweet treats with no sugar (just give these chocolate peanut butter fat bombs or pumpkin cheesecake a try!)

Why You Should Make This Easy Keto Donuts Recipe

These are my top 5 reasons you should make this low carb donut recipe:

  1. All of the sweetness with no sugar.
  2. Only 4 g net carbs.
  3. Keto donuts help to satisfy your sweet tooth and donut cravings.
  4. This easy recipe is made with simple ingredients like almond flour, coconut flour, and Monk fruit sweetener. No xanthan gum or cream cheese is needed.
  5. Easy to make homemade and less expensive than Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts.

What is a Keto Donut Made Of?

Here are the ingredients you need to make this recipe. Reference the recipe card at the bottom for exact measurements and the notes below for substitution ideas.

Dry Ingredients

Use fine almond flour rather than almond meal for making these almond flour donuts. Coconut flour combined with almond flour creates the best flour mixture for making low-carb donuts.

Protein powder is not required for this recipe, but I like to add an unflavored protein powder to increase the protein without adding additional net carbs.

Monk fruit sweetener is a great sugar substitute that helps to mimic the taste of traditional donuts.

Baking powder helps the donuts to rise.

Wet Ingredients

Almond milk or coconut milk along with whole eggs help to bring the donut batter together becoming a binding agent that lends moisture.

Vanilla extract provides a warm flavor that helps these keto donuts to taste like the real thing.

Keto Glaze Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you'll need for the keto glaze:

Melted butter, monk fruit sweetener, and vanilla extract create a creamy and delicious sweet glaze to top the low carb donuts.

Add a teaspoon or more of unsweetened cocoa powder to make a chocolate glaze.

Spray the donut pan or silicone donut pan with coconut oil spray and fill about ⅔ of the way up.

Step 4

Keto Glazed Donuts (Krispy Kreme Copycat Recipe) (6)

Bake in the oven for 14-16 minutes or until golden brown. Allow Keto donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes then move to a cooling rack to cool completely before serving with a cup of coffee!

How To Make Keto Glaze

  1. Allow keto donuts to cool on a wire rack while you make the glaze.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan and add in sweetener. Stir until sweetener is completely melted then add in vanilla. Stir over medium heat for about 5 minutes. You can also complete this step in the microwave.
  3. Remove the glaze from heat.
  4. Dip each cooled donut into the glaze and allow to cool completely.

Expert Tips

  • Follow the recipe card as written with no substitutions for the best results.
  • Storage: Glazed Keto donuts are best stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature. To extend the shelf life, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • Freezer: You may freeze them for up to three months in a freezer-safe container.

Recipe FAQs

How many carbs are in a keto donut?

There are 5.2 total carbs in this recipe. Net carbs are 4.0 grams and sugar is 1.1 grams.

How do I fill my donut pan?

If you don't have a pastry bag or piping bag, try using a quart-sized Ziploc bag and cutting off the tip.

You may also use a bowl with a spout and carefully pour the batter into the donut pan.

How do I ensure that my donuts do not rise out of the pan?

Fill your pan no more than ⅔ of the way up. If you fill the donut pan fully, the donuts will overflow.

How do I keep them from sticking to the pan?

To ensure my Keto donuts do not stick to the pan, I spray the donut pan very well with coconut oil spray.

You can also run a butter knife around the perimeter of the donuts and the donut hole section to gently loosen them before removing them.

Also - be sure to allow them to cool in the pan for at least five minutes before flipping them onto a cooling rack to cool fully.

Being from the birthplace of Krispy Kreme, I was excited to see the recipe name. Unfortunately, I can safely say these taste absolutely nothing like those. However, for keto donuts, they are good. The time to make them is a plus as well. They are much more dense and cake like. With the right flavorings, it would be much closer Dunkin’ Donut. A cream cheese glaze icing would probably be a better fit for these. I would probably turn these into mini-bundts next time and add that.

So yummy! Just made them in my Dash Mini Donut Maker and they were so good! I was worried they would be dense with the almond flour but they were airy and a delight!

I made these and loved them! They were SUUUper easy to make.
I'd love to give only amazing words about these, but there was one thing I didn't adore: THE GLAZE
It was way too sweet and even though I powdered the monk fruit to perfection, it was still slightly gritty. And also it was pretty thick. Though maybe my view of the glaze was dashed only because when I took them out of the oven the donut pan slipped and the all fell onto the floor!! lol
Anyway, they were pretty amazing for keto donuts. Thanks!

What can you use in the place of protein powder? Like others have said I do not usually use it and Im not buying it for 1/4 cup. Thank you!

    • Lyndsey

I think you can safely omit it and if the batter seems too thin just add in 1 tbsp coconut flour and see if that works. Hope that helps!

The donuts turned out great however, my glaze was
gritty. Next time I’ll try a powdered sweetener in the glaze. Thanks for the recipe.

I've had that happen if the erythritol doesn't dissolve completely. Powdered sweetener may work better for you next time. Thanks for trying the recipe!

Has anyone tried this without the coconut flour? Maybe substitute with extra almond flour? I just don't like it, so I don't have any and hate to buy it for 2 tablespoons

i dont think this is a common ingredient people have on hand but I happened to have some chicory root inulin so I added 2 tbs of that instead and added just a little less than a 1/4 cup more of almond flour. the texture was fantastic!
