With limited space in my kitchen, I am always on the lookout for versatile appliances. So when John Lewis sent me a Nutribullet Rx Blender Soup Maker from their extensive range of blenders, I was very pleased to discover that it could not only make smoothies, juices or nut butters but also soups.

Fitted with a 2.3 horsepower motor and 1700 watts of power, the Nutribullet Rx is a powerful blender designed to extract the most nutrients out of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as nuts and seeds. The turbo extractor blades and cyclonic action break down the cell walls of food, releasing all the goodness of the ingredients.

This technologically advanced blender is also fitted with hands-free SMART Technology. Forget second guessing, the Nutribullet Rx automatically calculates the exact amount of time at the exact speed required to deliver optimal nutrition.

At the push of a button, you can create nutritious smoothies, juices, nut milk, nut butters etc.. The Nutribullet Rx also has a “SouperBlast Mode“, a heating function to make fresh hot soups and sauces in only 7 minutes. How is that for convenience?! With a capacity of 1.3 litres, the Souperblast Cup can make enough for up to four people.

In addition to the Souperblast Cup, The Nutribullet Rx is equipped with an Oversized Cup and a Short Cup to suit single and multiple servings. For convenience, all the accessories are dishwasher safe. There is also a complimentary recipe book filled with healthy recipes (most of them vegan) to help you make the best of this blender.

To test the Nutribullet Rx, I first started to make smoothies.I found some great inspirational smoothie recipes here on the John Lewis website. I was really impressed by how efficient it was at breaking down some tough ingredients such as kale, cabbage, nuts and seeds, transforming them into smooth drinks. Nut butters were also ready in no time. All parts were easily fitted and dismantled, while the cleaning brush was great to remove stubborn bits.

If you are a regular reader, you will know how much I love soups, so I was very keen to try out the “SouperBlast Mode” which promises a nutritious meal in seven minutes, using either raw or pre-cooked ingredients. The instructions could not be simpler: “put all the ingredients in the Souperblast Cup and activate the seven-minute heating cycle by pressing the G Button on the base for two seconds until it’s red”. There you have it, no chopping required! A delicious hot meal in no time. It is also perfect to revive any leftovers into last minute soups.

I created this Vitality Soup recipe, below, mixing some of my favourite ingredients: spinach, carrot, cauliflower, ginger & coriander. The spices add a Moroccan twist and are very warming. Perfect for this cold April weather. I love the fact that there is no need to cut anything up; this blender can blitz through anything! The soup came out hot enough to eat straight away and takes less than ten minutes to make.

Thanks to its SMART Technology, the Nutribullet Rx Blender Soup Maker is really easy to use. It is the ideal kitchen appliance if you are looking to get the optimum nutrition. It is so versatile you can multi-task, saving time in your morning routine by making a smoothie for breakfast and a fresh soup for lunchboxes in less than twenty minutes. My only criticism is that the “SouperBlast Mode” is a bit noisy. Other than that, I absolutely love using it and it now sits proudly on my kitchen top.
